Hello Fit Fun Foody Team!!

fff about me profile pic

Hello, My name is Angela Connell. Welcome to Fit Fun Foody! Thanks for joining us to share this journey of wellness through the seasons of life with you. My passion for cooking began when my father began sharing his love of cooking real food with me when I was a kid. My mom and dad always loved to cook. So when you cook good food what do you think happens……..your friends will show up!! To me, a meal is meant to nourish, re-energize, sustain, comfort, and fuel our body daily. Re-energize by using healthy, non-processed ingredients to sustain you throughout the day. Comfort because our belly is satisfied without the processed, high sugar, high fat ingredients. Fuel, because the food we choose to put into our bodies is directly related to our mental and physical health. By this I mean, our ability to think more clearly, get to sleep easier, and sleep more deeply, get rid of that “foggy” feeling, have more energy, boost our bodies ability to fight off illness and be in tune our body.

My goal is about awareness of body, mind and spirit. Being a fitness trainer, background in nursing education, dealing with food allergies, sensitivities, gestational diabetes, toddler meals, growing teenagers, juggling schedules of working parents with athletic kids, has been nothing short of a journey. I would not have it any other way and am so blessed God knows my path better than I ever will.

Nutrition is an adventure that changes every few years. Being REAL and TRANSPARENT with yourself through our seasons of “I’ve got this” and seasons of “I can’t get this together”. We should sit down tTo dinner with our family, room mate, friend a minimum of 3 times a week. Meals are an adventure that offer bonding, conversation, building of self and hello to self to help us all slow down a little. Do we all need the drive thru sometimes, ABSOLUTELY. Do we need to purchase the veggies and fruit already cut up sometimes, ABSOLUTELY.

Teaming up with my partner Emerson Porter we will weather the seasons of nutrition with you. We are taking you through toddler years, teen years, everyone is involved in sports years, working parents with kids years, athlete college years, and beyond (not there yet) only to evolve back. Just like our food is meant to nourish and sustain you so will this website for years to come. To the young athlete, young mom or dad, mom with young kids, family on the go, working parents, WELCOME to your forever season of life.

Hi there! My name is Emerson Porter, and I am so excited to be on this journey with Angela. We both share a passion for a balanced lifestyle where you can fuel your body to be the best it can be. I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my philosophy so you can see the roots of my interest in health and wellness.

I have been an athlete my whole life. Growing up gymnastics was the majority of my life, however, after injuries I chose to leave the sport to pursue a new path. A lot of times the hardest decisions are the ones that end in the greatest outcome. Looking back, that was one of those moments where I changed the path my life would take. It takes soul searching to make a change in your life, but don’t be afraid to take a chance because you never know where you might end up!

For me, I ended up as a pole vaulter for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Crazy, I know! I am now doing a sport that I fell in love with as a Junior in high school for the school I fell in love with as a young girl. Go Heels!

My athletic journey has taught me a lot about myself, my health, and what it takes to have balance. This is what I am here to share with all of you! My philosophy on how to fuel yourself as an athlete has come from personal experience as well as knowledge I have picked up along the way. And in my mind, everyone is an athlete in some way if they chose to move their body every day. I am in no way done with developing as an athlete or a person. My philosophy is constantly changing and evolving.

I believe that we were made to be fueled by whole foods. This is something I try to follow every day. Nothing over-processed was really made to be eaten by humans. There is no specific diet or plan that I follow. Simply put, I fuel my body with whole foods, enough protein, water (Hydrate!!), and balance. Through this page, I hope to share my tips, specifically for athletes or young people, about how to fuel for recovery and performance. The better you feel the better you can perform. It doesn’t have to be hard to make a change in your lifestyle, all you have to do is decide to make the change and after a while it all becomes second nature.

I am ready to go! I hope you are!
