APPLE PIE PUFF WITH ICE CREAM
Okay, so this is your Father’s Day end of day quick treat, 4th of July individual apple pie, holiday dessert to send home to each guest, children’s sleepover late night treat!! This is soo versatile because it is sooo easy and quick. The hardest element of this dessert is making sure you have a puff pastry. I guarantee the other ingredients we all have in our house at all times! Now if you are a queen baker, that I am NOT you can make your own puff pastry and hats off to you!! Although that does the “quick” aspect out of this quick dessert. LOL Seriously though, I made this on Fathers Day as we had an early dinner, just coming off an extended family vacation where we have dessert quite often and still had not set back into our normal diet rhythms. As soon as I put the scoop of apples into the puff pastry square and in the oven, my family came from their rooms wondering what the yummy smell was and when it would be done?
Need I say more, of course not.
I will use this recipe again and again as I am sure you will. Let me know how you and your family enjoy this recipe.
Apple Pie Puff with Ice Cream
Equipment
- BREAK OUT THE TOOLS
- baking sheet
- parchment paper
- skillet
- knife, spoon and spatula
Ingredients
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pre-made PUFF PASTRY JUS-ROL OR PEPPERIDGE FARMS
- 1 apple red delicious, fuji, your pick
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp sugar
Instructions
DIRECTIONS
- Pre-heat oven to 400.
- Gather your ingredients.
- Open and roll out your puff pastry. Using a sharp knife, cut into 12 squares. Nothing about perfection here just equal squares. Enough to get a scoop of your apple mixture into the center of your square allowing room for the pastry to puff up when you cook.
- Mix your cinnamon, nut meg and sugar together, set aside.
- Peel your apple and thinly (thinly) slice. Chop into smaller pieces based on your preference.
- Heat your skillet over medium heat. Place your apples in the skillet and sprinkle your mixture over top. Toss well to mix and add juice of 1/2 lemon. Toss well and cook for 4-5 minutes until apples are tender. Remove from heat.
- Place parchment paper onto baking sheet. (if you do not have parchment paper, make sure your spray/coat your baking sheet). Place your puff pastry square onto baking sheet and add a spoonful of your apple mixture to the center. Continue until you have all your squares completed. This may take two baking sheets.
- Place in preheated oven at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove when cooked to desired crispness. Serve with scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- Absolutely delicious!!Absolutely quick!
